Marcus Christensen is the founding principal of Thornbury Capital Partners. Most recently before starting Thornbury, Marcus established and led the exclusive Southeast multi-housing team at a leading international investment sales firm, providing investment advisory, transaction services and research to investors domestically and internationally.
Marcus has been involved in over $1B of transactions working with institutional and private investors, REITs, hedge funds, lenders, national and local banks, special servicers on REO and note sales, insurance companies and commercial equity and debt restructuring firms. He has successfully developed and implemented comprehensive real estate strategies that support and are in alignment with the clients’ overall business strategy across a variety of asset classes and services, including retail, multi-family, student housing, office, land, affordable housing, mixed-use, residential, development, renovation, property management and leasing.
Throughout his career, Marcus has developed a reputation among his peers and clients for being a great conceptual thinker, thought leader and a tactful negotiator. Prior to real estate, Marcus worked in the Financial Services industry in Manhattan doing institutional equity sales & trading and investment banking.
Marcus was born and raised in Oslo, Norway and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Finance degree in 2007. He serves on the Board of Directors for A Better Life Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit devoted to transforming the lives of disabled children in Burkina Faso, one of the world’s poorest nations.
Jace Fletcher Christensen
Before founding Thornbury Capital Advisors, Jace Christensen served as Vice President and a founding member of Rialto Developer Capital, which invests private equity in joint venture land development and homebuilding opportunities nationwide. Projects range from custom, single family homes to mixed-use master-planned communities. Rialto Capital Management, a subsidiary of international homebuilder, Lennar Homes, is a top real estate investment company based in Miami, FL with seven offices and +400 professionals.
Jace has extensive experience in real estate, corporate finance and investment management with an expertise in financial modeling and valuation methodologies. Prior to joining Rialto, she was a research analyst at Shenkman Capital Management, a multi-billion-dollar bond firm in NYC, where she provided credit analysis and investment guidance to portfolio managers on the distressed debt of over 150 high-yield companies within the auto, consumer products, utilities, paper & packaging, and metals & mining industries. Prior to joining Shenkman, she was an investment associate for a NYC-based family office, where she oversaw fundraising, investor relations and fund accounting for Gems Advisors, a multi-strategy fund of hedge funds in London. She began her career in finance as a private wealth advisor for ultra high net worth clients at UBS in Dallas, TX.
Jace graduated with honors from Southern Methodist University with a BS/BA in International Economics and Psychology. She is an active member of Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Home Builders. Jace serves on the board of A Better Life Foundation, which supports educational programs in Burkina Faso. She resides with her husband and two children in Dallas.
Daniel Burton is the Vice President of Multi-Family and Student Housing at Thornbury Capital Partners. His focus is exclusively on multi-housing investment sales throughout Texas and the United States. Over the past five years, Daniel has been involved in over 30 transactions valued at over $200 million, working with private investors, developers, and lenders.
Daniel began his multifamily career working first in operations (maintenance and leasing) and then on the capital markets side. Five years ago, he became an investment sales agent with a leading national investment sales firm in Dallas/Fort Worth, providing investment advisory, transaction services, and research across the state of Texas. During his time at the firm, he received multiple awards for his work ethic and ability to close difficult transactions.
Daniel grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In his free time, Daniel enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is also an avid basketball fan, and outside of work and family you can often find him on the court.
Steven McClendon oversees the Retail division at Thornbury Capital Partners and specializes in commercial retail shopping center acquisitions and dispositions throughout the state of Texas.
Steven has been involved in over $250 million (+1M square feet) of commercial retail transactions representing institutional and private investors, family offices, and REITs. Prior to joining Thornbury, Steven worked at a leading national investment sales firm in Texas and New York where he helped identify, underwrite, and close on retail acquisitions and dispositions throughout Texas.
Steven is particularly adept at bringing an institutional approach to middle-market commercial real estate investors. By leveraging his strong local knowledge and relationships, he is consistently able to source high quality off-market investment opportunities for his clients.
Steven graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.S. in Biology. He is an active member of Project REAP, ICSC, NAIOP, and ULI. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and is an avid supporter of Tottenham Hotspurs F.C.
